Brand identity and motion design for Apple Farm, a DeFi rewards program built on the Etherlink Layer 2 blockchain.
The challenge was to create a brand identity and visual world that could make DeFi participation feel engaging, playful, and easy to explore.
The identity draws from the vibrant aesthetics of classic 8-bit video games, introducing a playful world within the Etherlink ecosystem.
Pixel-art graphics, bold outlines, and vibrant colours create a nostalgic yet contemporary visual environment.

About the project
Apple Farm transforms engagement with the Etherlink ecosystem into a playful, game-like experience, rewarding users for participating in decentralized finance.
It’s a DeFi rewards program built on the Etherlink Layer 2 blockchain, designed to encourage participation across the ecosystem. Through activities such as staking, liquidity providing, and interacting with selected protocols, users earn points called “Apples”, which accumulate over time and unlock rewards.
The challenge was to create a brand identity that could transform decentralized finance into an engaging and approachable experience while reflecting the innovation of the Etherlink network.
The concept behind Apple Farm blends nostalgia with innovation. Inspired by the vibrant aesthetics of classic 8-bit video games, the identity introduces a playful visual world that contrasts with the often complex and intimidating landscape of DeFi. Pixel-art graphics, bold outlines, and vibrant colours create an environment that feels familiar, accessible, and rewarding.
Apple Farm transforms participation in the Etherlink ecosystem into a game-like journey. Users collect apples by interacting with protocols, track progress through a dashboard and leaderboards, and unlock rewards as they explore the network.
Storytelling plays a central role in the experience. The website unfolds as a playful narrative where apples fall from the sky, ready to be harvested and transformed into rewards. As users scroll through the site, they move through a pixelated landscape, from a sky filled with falling apples to a vibrant digital farm where rewards are ultimately claimed.
The visual identity embraces this narrative approach. A bold pixel-art logo places the hero apple at the center of the brand, capturing the spirit of retro gaming while symbolizing the rewards users are working toward. A collection of modular illustrations expands the Apple Farm world, forming the building blocks of a playful ecosystem that can evolve and grow with each new season.
Together, these elements create a brand experience that transforms DeFi participation into an adventure, combining nostalgia, storytelling, and gamification to bring users into the Etherlink ecosystem in a way that feels both fun and rewarding.
